listening as well. It seems like everyone gets this far and that is the last time you hear from them. Its like they all fall from the face of the earth.

Thats because if you attempt this mod, the mod mob visits and disapears you...

If you havn't heard of the MOD Mob. It's a small unknown branch of GM and CARB. They took out the Turbosport, Technic, and a bunch of other good ideas from GM.

i'm still doing mine, but it's just too damn cold to put it on so i'm building my engine instead. recently though i've trimmed an inch off of all of the arms, and it all measured out great. just need to get new rotors and pads and put it all on. that's another problem; i'm waiting for exploited racing to get a car out of the shop so i can do it there.

no those are disks, its just hard to tell because of the rust LOL

I think he's talking about the pads on the top of the assembly

Yes it's disc. Most cars have a rear disc/drum setup.. It's two small pads on the inside of the disc that are used for the E-break and then you have the disc and caliper that do the stopping.

so whats up with this setup? has anyone ever got it finished?

Im assuming you dont have axcess to a welder? If it was my car, there would be no way i would mount that ugly press bent peice of sheet metal under my car if i was doing a custom suspension install like that. Id use a few pieces of 2" x 2" 1/8" wall box tubing and make a custom mount that would clear the exhaust, and bolt directly to the rear of the car without using a bunch of spacers to make it sit in there correctly

i think that the disk/drum setup is only used on rwd and 4wd vehicles. i don't think gm ever employed it on the fwd cars. cause i've changed a lot of rear axles on these cars and haven't seen it yet.

Nearly all GM vehicles w/ rear discs use the Disc/Drum setup... W-bodies, N-bodies, etc...

if the exhaust is in the way i would suggest just unbolt the catback until you have the irs done the go to a muffler shop and have them make a new catback for you. you can still use the muffler and exhaust tip, but you already found out the pipe wont work. i think with irs you can have the exhaust come right down the center of the car. which would cut down on bends and even use less pipe dropping a little bit of weight. i wish i was getting irs

I think all Aleros came with rear discs... and Grand Am GT's as well. The base Grand Am's have drums.

Heh.. I have side exhaust... nothing in the way to interfere with this mod... except for the need for lowering springs and Koni's, of course...
