custom rear baggin?
Friday, November 12, 2004 1:01 PM
hey i have a question for you guys. I am quite experienced with baggin trucks, and so i have some extra parts left over. My question is has anyone ever bagged the back of a cavy with a set of normal set of firstone 255 or airlift 2b6 bags? why couldn't i just fab up some brackets, and mount them on the link bar? It would be alot cheaper then buying a set of strut bags, plus i could get alot more lift out of that setup, and a better ride quality also..

6 peices of angle iron and 2 bridge plates from Suicidedoors.com

My welds look like crap. I didnt take the time to grind down tot he metal on the frame. I was welding threw the coting becuase I was in a hurry for some dumb reason. . But they are strong and stand up to me hopping it every week. My rear gets about 7" off the ground and the brackets are hanging on strong.
I removed rims and struts, lifted arm up all the way and welded the plates in with bag fully compressed. So I know that im acheving full drop. Actualy my tires ar resting in fenders. If I tub it out I can go lower. But not sure how much.
Right now I have no rear struts. The stocks ones bottom out before the car drops down all the way. With the stock struts inplace it lifts it about 1.25 inches compared to without. you can see in my pics. ANd thats to much for me.
Im probably going to just order some universal drop shocks and and have to fab a upper mount just like on the front of trucks.

With the easystreet bags I have Im getting 5.5" of lift. You can see how the twist so much at full lift. Owner of a shop told me to run Slam Bags and I could get a bit more lift.

If your into trucks youve probably riddin in at least one bagged one with no shocks and my car rides the same. The back is so freakin lofty. Not stiff at all but just up and down and up and down. I need to hurry and find some shocks.

Oh and muffler pipe needs to be moved over. My guy made 3 dif cat backs before he got it perfect. Needs to bend alot more towards center of car when it comes over the rear to clear the bag.
damn... i thought i had an original idea oh well, at least now i know it works for sure! thanks for the pics esb! And the second i looked at that lower mount, i new i reconizd jasons bag mounts! I bought all my parts off him to build my link setup on my truck. what about shocks? do you have any? what about making a bracket that bolts in the factory location, but would hold a shock instead, it would mount to the factory location on the bottom. thanks again for the pics man.

hey this is a mightly old thread, but i just wanted to ask esb... how much did your exhaust have to be moved over to safely clear the bags? I was under my girls car the other day and i dont know, but it seemed like hers wouldnt need moved over very much to clear the bags? Her factory exhaust seemed to look like yours does in the pics there. How much space to you have between your bag and the pipe? I was also thinking of adding a heat sheild beside the bag just to make sure its away from the heat.... yes? no?
