what exactly will it do? why is it so much better or even worth the time? explain please!
Imagine yourself walking down a staircase. Now compare it to going over speed bumps in your car.
In a car with IRS, you take every step one foot at a time, and it is relatively smooth.
In a car with a twist beam like a J, its like hopping down the stairs with both feet at the same time. Much rougher ride, and not as efficient.
At least thats how I look at it.

Does anyone know what rims have 5x100 and 5x115 bolt patterns? Almost every rim I have found has 5x100 and 5x114.3.
Travis
I was told 5x114.3 will fit on the 5x115........ but I havn't checked it out yet.......

0.7mm is a very small difference. It's about 28 thousandths of an inch. I haven't seen a rim yet that doesn't have a bit of slop in it. I haven't had any problems swapping the two around yet.
I read up a bit on the Grand AM forums. A lot of guys there use the 5x114.3 rims with hub centric rings to get a proper fit. Sounds like that is the solution.
Cavalier hub: 57.1 mm
Alero hub: 70.3 mm
A Cavalier Hub has a 5x100 Bolt pattern with the 57.1mm center hub.
An Alero has a 5x115 bolt pattern with the 70.3mm center hub.
5x114.3 rims without the 5x100 bolt pattern are useless (on stock hubs).
If you've done this IRS (or hub equivilant) swap, then you have the 5x115x70.3 hub anyway.
Just wanted to clarify in case anyone got the wrong idea..
Did ya get the How-To done yet?
How to, How to, How to, How to? Please update on ride dude and what it took.
