cheap suspension mods...

i'm just short of funds and wanting to see some suggestions. i would like to improve a bit on the handling of this car. i already have eibach springs... but i think my shocks/struts are blown.. because it is seeming to be a bit bouncier. here's a list of what i'm planning but i'd like some help on new struts/shocks... i'd rather not cheap out on those, and get some nice ones that way i won't hve to replace them anytime soon. let me know what you think...

1. ken2.2's subframe brace
2. prothane swaybar bushings for front
3. front strut tower brace(got's to be the 'spensive RK one though... d@mn hood)
4. rear RSM strut tower brace
5. addco rear sway bar

now here's where i have questions...

6. addco front sway bar
*do i really need this? i'm not sure on the stock size, but does anyone know any better/cheaper mods that would give results similar to this? like perhaps one off of the 2nd gen turbo birds? i know those were supposed to have pretty mean suspensions.

7. new struts/shocks
*i really have no idea, i don't think i will need the adjustability of the AGX's (althoguh they are real nice, my buddy has them on his talon) but something possibly a bit lower, and nice and stiff.

let me know what you guys think, thanks!

*and plz remember my funds are very tight, so i'm lookin for the cheapest bang for the buck. i would like to invest the money and have instant gratification

Yeah... the "special" bar that RK sells IS the GM bar.

The only reason to get it from RK is if you want the chromed one. Otherwise, just get it from any GM dealer.

From what I have read on here and from other sources your GT should have the FE2 suspension which would already have a 22mm front sway bar. What I am doing is ordering the larger 24mm bar from 03 and newer cars for mine( because my sedan only had the 18mm FE1 sway bar) and upgrading to poly urethane bushings and end links - the bar is $70.00 from GM partsdirect and the poly bushings I bought at Autozone for less than $20.00. I have ordered the rear Addco 1" bar as well.

or instead of paying that much for the strut bar from gm, first check around your local junkyard and see if there is a vert cav or fire and just take the one off of them.

Sure, the price would be better if you actually found one but really... odds are slim to none that you're gonna come across one. They're just not that common.

It's definitely worth spending a half hour on the phone calling around though just on the off chance that you DO find one. I wouldn't spend a day driving to each wrecker though.

Well if u really wanted to save money and get noticeable gains. First the front sway bar might make a difference. But any aftermarket or factory larger sway bars are not that much bigger to actually feel a good difference. Second, the strut braces, well i've never heard of people actually feeling anything out of them, and if there was an improvement it wouldn't be worth the money. Ur best bet to upgrade ur suspension cheaply and to do effective increases are to 1. Replace the front sway endlinks with poly bushings ($17?) 2. Replace control arm bushings with poly bushings ($35 from Karo) 3. Rear sway bar ($130). U will notice a very big difference with these parts.
