rear drum size?
Thursday, April 07, 2005 6:06 PM
i have an 03 cavalier, and i wanna get some new rear drums, because mine are rusted to all hell, terribly bad. they seem overly rusted than what they should be. i see older cavs that have ones not even half as rusted as mine.

but my question is if anyone knows what the drum size is for the 03-05 cav. i thought i heard they got like 2mm bigger than the older cav's, but idk. also does anyone know anywhere to get them at a decent price? any help is appreciated. thanks.

well since it was asked and answered..... going to the auto store, or looking online at auto parts suppliers. i could tell ya mine but it wouldn't do anyone but me any good. i found it online
in less than 10 min and i didn't need the size, I found it by the part description. and unless your have problems with your brakes other than the outside rust, then just wait till you have a good day, and look. it should be clean as can be on the inside where it counts,. if the rust really bothers you take a wire brush in a drill and clean it up, can even use navel jelly if you want. then paint it with heat paint. presto your done.

There are two different sizes of drums on our cavaliers. 225mm and 207mm (or something close to that). The smaller size was the most common.

now please correct me if I'm wrong but won't you need to replace the other hard ware that the drum mounts on if you change sizes? I can see this question coming next lol.

If you upgrade to the 225's you need to use the backing plate, hardware, and rear ebrake cables (the two that connect the main one).
