spring compressor needed?

When installing a full setup thats pre assembled is a Spring compressor needed? Either to take off the old stuff or put on new ones.

Also if so, are these the little clamp deals that they sell at auto parts stores that alot of lazy ppl around my area use to lower their cars?

My setup should be here next week and I just wanna have stuff ready to get it on the car.

"pre assembled" is a key thing here if you have no intention of dis assembling your old stuff then no you don't need it this is assuming that all the parts for you set up are indeed put together.BTW what set up are you getting?

if its all ready put together then no, just swap out the old w/ the new. if you were doing springs and struts then you would need a compressor because you would need to you the stock mounts and bump stops. also those spring clamps that people use to lower their car are very dangerous

Just basically need to know if putting on a new strut mount i would need one or not.

to replace a mount you need it. if you have an autozone or checker you can rent one for like $20.

you can rent it for FREE, you just leave a deposit that you get back when you return it

If you get new "seperate" strut mounts for any full coilover setup all you do is lower the perch all the way to put on strut mounts and tighten the nut at the top. Then you "raise it up" and it tightens the spring to the strut mount. The weight of the car will press it together anyway. To get strut mounts off of stock struts you NEED a spring compressor to release the tension as you can't lower stock struts LOL! Just wanted to explain what I did for my prostreets. Hope it helps.
