brakes are grabbing and not letting go
Sunday, April 10, 2005 7:57 PM
I notice sometimes when I'm driving the brakes seems to grab. I have a 5-speed so when I slow down the only thing I have to do is put it in neutral or hold the clutch in and it will slow down without having me hitting the brakes. Also it doesn't do this all the time. Thanks.

so wut if u have a 5spd.. if its in neutral its in neutral unless u try to stop a mile ahead of where you want u should still use breaks..lol this is the back breaks? i know a couple people with cavaliers including myself when i hit the back breaks somethings they lock up for a second.. mostly with harder stops but ive noticedit at really low speeds to i dont know why it does it tho

I just notice that right now. What I meant was that when I put it in nuetral it fells like I'm pressing on the brakes, when I'm actually not. For me it locks up for a long time.

same happened to me a month ago. I would brake hard and it would get stuck. ended up being the wheel cylinders

Someone told me that it could be that I have no back brakes and the front brakes are doing all the work and all I have to do is adjust the back brakes. That's why it's grabbing . Is that possible?

Also it seems the front brakes are the ones that are dragging, because you can feel the extra heat coming from them.

I tried to do that but I couldn't find where the spot to adjust them at.

I just read on another thread that I can back up and that will adjust the back brakes?

you probably have sticking calipers in the front..you should pull them off and check out the slider and sleeve/bushing that go through the caliper..a lazy caliper or stuck caliper will make that drag as well..

if you pop in neutral when you brake, dont continue to hold the clutch in.

I don't do that, I let the clutch out.
