Adjusting drum brakes?
Sunday, April 17, 2005 3:11 PM
Asked this question on 2nd gen with no bites yet. Please help:

How do you adjust the drum brakes? I upgraded my front brakes (to 10") and bled the system - now my right rear is sticking and won't self adjust. Chilton's says squat about adjustment. How's it done?

At the bottom of the drum there is a piece that looks like a peg with a round adjuster knob in the middle of it. That is supposed to be in contact with other brake parts. If it isn't, then you have an issue. To adjust, you have to roll it one way or another and keep putting the drum on and off until you adjust it so much that there is interference keeping the drum on. Then back it off just slightly.
