How to check if shocks are blown?
Saturday, April 23, 2005 9:50 AM
Im going tommorrow to check out a set of Coils and KYB GR2 shock/struts. they are off the car and would like to know how to check them out if they are blown, if i press down on them, should the be stiff, come back up fast/slow, etc.... The guy said "one of them takes a little longer to get back up" what could that mean and how would it affect the ride.

Thanks

Stock struts aren't gas charged, the KYB's and most other ones are.

the KYB GR2 shock/struts are not made for lowering. they are probaly blown by now.
i think if you compress the shock itself and it dont come up, then its no good

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!

i would say the best way to tell would be on a car. Or if the strut is super easy to push down and up off the coil it is blown. The best way to tell would be mounted

here is a pic of the actual struts the owner posted, i just noticed now that one of the rear shocks is pressed down and the other is up. So i guessing something is wrong with one of them. Anybody know what brand these coils look like?
