theres no way to adjust it in a 98 cavi is there?

i adjusted up the brakes and checked the cables there good
but my e-brake comes all the way up and dont hold the car still
anything i can do?

or get new cables?

take the rear drum off and there is a little spindel on the bottom of each drum. that adjusts the cable

That little spindle he's talking about is actually the adjuster for the rear shoes, what you need to do is rotate it to push the shoes out, you want to have just a slight bit of drag on the rear drums when you put them back on and attempt to rotate them. Once you have that set if your E-brake cable still doesn't do anything, your cable is stretched and you need a new one.

there good
but still no e-brake

cables must be just to streached

There's a ratcheting system in the handle assembly that may be shot. If replacing the cable doesn't fix the problem, then you may need a new handle.

Do the cables in our cars ever need replacing unless they actually brake? I actually thought the ratchet in the handle would take care of any bit of stretching that might occur.

can anyone confirm this thought weasel has? Mine's doing the same thing. I thought my shoes were just shot beyond grip lol. 99k, I figure I'm on the 2nd set ever put on the car...no question the first ones since around 55k lol

I don't think you can. There's a ratchet system in the handle that's supposed to self-adjust the cable. I'm not sure on this though so hopefully someone's got some better info.

Did anyone figure anything out with this? My cable is still stretched out.
