you either need to be a little easier on the manual....or you just happen to get one of those problem prone cars

well good luck either way, and yes the dealership should fix everything no questions asked
call GM my finaces dash was cracked and every deal refused to honor GMPP. If you call GM they get it fixed. Just tell what the dealership is doin and they can get it fixed.

If you are having that much trouble you may be able to make them buy it back under the lemon law
Not a big deal, you just need a the cable replaced...I have about 17,500 miles on the 03 Eco Cav and mine stopped working about 1,000 miles ago...Just had the cable replaced last week, and it works fine again...It's happened to a lot of us already...Just take it to the dealer and tell them that...Mine was replaced under warranty...
Believe me, I wish it were that easy. I've seen more lately about people complaining about their 03-04's. Myself included. Bah
yeah mark, just go above the dealerships head and call a main GM department, they will call the dealership, ream them for not making a customer happy, and your car will be fixed and more than likely, they'll F up your body kit while they have it in the shop....bastards.

After really reading what you originally posted the dealer wont work on my car any more because you know it has a body kit. I've fought with a service manager because he refuses to work on modified cars and said he will not fix the clunking in my suspension because of the aftermarket body panels!!!!
That's total BS. What does the clunking in the suspension have to do with aftermarket body panels? Make him prove it. Besides... isnt there certain ways of getting aftermarket parts on a car (wings at least i know for sure) on a car when you buy it new.... hell I was thinking for some strange reason that you can get a whole body kit.

Thats ridiculous. I live in Akron and I saw a new '05 cavalier with a type-j kit on it and another dealership had a couple with the razzi kit on them as well as aftermarket rims. Both of these were at Chevrolet dealerships.

Exactly, you can get the @!#$ as 'dealer installed options'

i had the same problems. just replacing the cable for your defroster will not do it. they did that to mine for three times until i broke the nipple instead of the cable. they have to take the dash apart and cut some foam out of the way. the one time they put a new cable on it i broke it before i left the dealership. and for the tranny they thought that i had bad synchros so they took the tranny off and could not remove third gear so they replaced the whole tranny. they did however ? my short shifter

ok heres the rule on warranty.......they haev to be able to prove or at least make a case for abuse....but even so, they usually throw a tranny at it once...if it happens again with the same circumstances...then probably not....and as far as buy back/lemon law, your car has to be down meaning in the shop for repair and or awaiting parts for 38 days out of the first year on a new vehicle purchase...those days do not have to be consecutive....your dealer will probably warranty it though..if not call gm customer care...they will follow up on it

i like that spoiler its different i read in your profile its custom, but your profile also says that the only engine mods you have is exhaust. they had alot of things that they could have tried to blame my tranny on, but they let it slide

i had to have my tranny replaced at about 17,000 miles with the same problems too, and it was under warrranty but they still fought with me about it. The weird thing is that i didn't drive it hard but i did get used with almost 10,000 miles. After a month and a half fighting with them about it , i haven't had any trouble with it. good luck though
I live in canada so I'm not lucky enough to have the lemon law by my side, I have to fight the harder to way to get this car replaced. My tranny grinds 50% of the time in 2/4, less in the 3/5, maybe 15% of the time, and only in first when im braking and abs hits as I downshift, so thats not a problem right now for 1st.

I just threw #1 or #2 (cant really tell from looking underneith) through the blcok in my car, it was just rebuilt <8000km ago because of a spun rod bearing and it ate away at crank and stuff, but now this problem. Which could have been avoided because the dealership is dickin me around, telling me to come back on different days and stuff. Ive complained about them twice already to GM complaint line, and I guess I will be doing it again in the morning, and yet again about the car.
One of the GM techs I've talked to mentioned this problem with newer Getrag trannies... something about the shift fork engaging too far and grinding stuff that shouldn't be grinding...

Apparently GM's made a potential market for someone who can CNC the right part to stop this from happening
