he means the e-brake...

i'll do a search for you

here you go
Cavie Freak wrote:

no dont go there for that info there method sucks. yeah jump the wire then have a light go on casue you did it the wrong way.

here is the proper method. you will thank me later if you have already done the first one.

This is a REALLY simple mod that took me maybe 5
minutes... Disabling the annoying DRLs... All you'll
need is a piece of 16 gauge wire, electrical tape,
something to cut 16 gauge wire, a ratchet & a 1/2"
socket...

Pull the carpet back on the driver side "kick panel"
area & locate the "BCM" which is marked with a white
sticker reading "BCM"...

There are 2 blue plugs & 1 smaller purple plug plugged
into the BCM. Unplug the middle plug by pulling back
the blue tab. It will slide right out...

Turn the plug so that you can see the wire side.
You'll notice that there are 2 sets of wires, 1 is
lightly marked "A", the other, "B". There are holes
for 12 wires in each set but not all the holes are
filled...

Locate the ONLY blue wire of the bunch. Most say this
wire is in "A", however I've known several people,
including myself, who have found it to be in "B"
instead. Either way, it's the ONLY dark blue wire
there & is the one which controls the DRLs...

Now seperate the blue wire just enough from the others
to work with it. Cut it about 2-2&1/2" from the plug &
strip the covering to expose an area of bare wire...

Take a piece of 16 gauge wire and strip the covering
from an area on both ends to expose bare wire...

Now twist one end of the new wire with the end of the
2-2.5" piece of dark blue wire coming from the plug &
tape it up with electrical tape...

Take the ratchet w/ 1/2" socket and follow the
steering column. You'll see 2 1/2" bolts attaching the
steering colum. Loosen 1 of them & attach the other
end of the new wire, then tighten up the bolt. These
bolts make a good ground as there's no paint, just
bare metal...

Now you can tape the other end of the cut wire coming
out of the firewall if you like or just tuck it behind
the carpet...

Plug the plug back in, tuck the excess wire behind the
carpet & you're done!

The first time you start your car after doing this,
the instrument panel DRL light may or may not flash a
few times, mine didn't but others have said their's
have... But they're off, your headlights & corners
work when turned on but the DRLs do not come on &
there won't be any lights on in the instrument panel!

That method applies to 2000 plus Pre 200 don't have a BCM as far as i know
This is courtsey of Teamforwardmotion.com;

Open the door on the fuse panel, which is located just inside the driver's door. The fuse panel door shows a map of the fuses and such.
There is a relay that is marked DRL. Remove this relay by simply pulling it out.
Look at the DRL relay and find the prongs #30 and #87a. Now get a little jumper wire and put it where the two prongs are when the relay in inserted. This will allow your high beam to work.
Side-Effect

Your DRL light will flash, indicating your DRL's are not working. This can be solved by removing the dash, and placing electrical tape over the light.

Other Technique

You may try to persuade your dealer to disable your DRLs using the "Tech II". This will eliminate the dash light, and prevent you from having to remove the DRL relay.

If you're willing... I need a guinea pig for the same 2000+ mod, but on 95-99's. Involves getting to the cluster... so you have to take the dash pad off...

Then you find the dark blue wire going to the cluster. Actually, there's two. I'll have to figure out which. One is for the right turn signal, the other is for the low beam input (which toggles the DRLs).

You cut it, and ground it.. just like the 00+ mod. No putting tape over the light. No jumping relays. No errors.

I tried it on my 99 before I did the swap... but with the HID's in there, the DRLs didn't work anyways.

take your driver seat out and pull the cover over the ebrake, disconect the wire that is attached to the ebrake. pre- 99 because the 95-98 don't have a separate drl relay in teh fuse box. wi will be doing this tomorrow so i will see if there has to be anything grounded out or not.

i just pulled the center console out and grounded the blue (?) wire attached to the e-brake. now the brake light in the cluster is on all the time, because the car believes the brake is on, but no DRL blinky light.

i can live with it until i put some tape over that light in the cluster.

gettin' organizized...

Jeff you gonna try it my way??

I think if you cut the dark blue wire into the cluster (just like the dark blue wire into the BCM) it should work... you might have to ground the cluster side.... but otherwise, the cluster should think the low beams are on, and turn off the DRLs for you
