At the time when i got mine i was looking for a reasonable priced car. It had more standard safety features than Honda. Also cost less. Plus GM had a college grad program. Zero down no payments for 3 months.
Mine has been running like a champ for the last 5 years no major issues just some i created myself and minor ones. Most times my car is the only one running while other people car are down. may be i got a good one off the lot. I like my 95-99 body style. That is the one thing that prevented me from getting a 2000.

The car is cheap. I bought my car for $10,000 put $10,000 more into and now I have a car that out handles and outperforms a lot of cars in its class, with a comparable price tag ($20k). The car is also tailored to the look I want and doesn't resemble all the others around me. To be able to have all that with no monthly payments and cheap insurance is definitely my Cavaliers best quality.

Best qualities... hmmm....

- Cheap on gas

- Isn't a Neon

- Easy to make it look different than the 10 million other J's out there that the grandmas are driving.

That's about all that comes to mind

The two things I like about my z24 are that it gets good gas mileage and I could give a rats azz about it. I wash it about twice a year and I can park it anywhere I want and I don't care what happens to it. My wife, well girlfriend at the time, bought our fully loaded black 97 z24 used with 30,000 miles on it back in 2000. So far it has 74000 miles and this is why I dislike the car. The water pump sucks to replace, the interior rattles like a mother, I've replaced all the lower plastic panels on the seats, one dash vent, the wiper arms transmission assembly bent, and the rear brakes suck. I keep the cavy around as my beater car. I only drive this car in the winter and when it rains in the summer. The rest of the time, I drive one of my camaros.

Alot of people say they aren't reliable, but I'm on my 3rd Cavalier and I find them very reliable. The J-Body has been around for 23-24 years. It's had its ups and its downs, but getting down to the point, they do exactly what they were designed to do and they do it pretty damn well IMO.

Actually the cavalier is the #3 most stolen car in the country due to it being extremely common... but the civic and accord is #1 & 2 lol... theyre great cars tho id definitely recommend them anyday... you can do a lot with them and they look great to start with... insurance is dirt cheap and it gets great gas mileage... just my two cents
