OK now We're getting somewhere....I think

OK if need be please reread my last post....but I took my car with me into work finally and and talked to GM's Techline about whats going on.....they told me to look for the two grounds for the gauge cluster,......if one or both is not connected then it will not start and do all sorts of crazy @!#$.....well I pulled my intake manifold to find that all the ground wires off of the engine harnes were just sitting there.....so I connected them....cleaned up all thw wiring and connected everything....now....I went to start it...it started right up...and shut off....no blinking theft light.....only solid with everything else......try turning it over again.....nothing...it just turns....I have to cycle the key all the way off and then turn it over again to get it to start.....and when it starts up and runs.....my tach does not move...yet it runs perfect and when I connected our scan tool....the scope shows a tach signal so I know its getting that......I pulled codes.....I had one for a PCM communication error and one for antitheft system.......go into guided fault finding and it tells me that the anti theft system is obviously coming on and asks if computers were jsut changed and blah blah blah the usual crap...so I skipped it.....go into GFF for the pcm communication error code and it tells me two causes...wire break and faulty PCM.....so I swapped out to a 2000 PCM I had......acts the same way only now the two codes I have are Anti theft system and the other is one I have never seen before and I could find no info on it.....its for "VTD fuel cut off" I have no idea what that means but I wonder if that might be related to me theft system issue....................so..............anyone got any bright or interesting ideas?

The theftlock won't blink, it will stay solid, you have to follow the instructions I wrote, I don't recall them off the top of my head, but they are in the fist post of the interior FAQ.

I know you've swapped your PCM a couple times, and that could definately cause that

The VTD fuel cut-off is triggered by the theft lock "Vehicle Theft Deterrant fuel cut-off" I'm not sure if the older models had this but i know the 2000+ use this passive device to prevent starting of the car one the system is tripped.

Have you done anything to the guage cluster? The theftlock is integrated into the guages, if you remove them, or modify them your going to run into issues.

your 00 pcm isnt compatible with your 99 cluster...... thats why your getting the theft lock problems....... in 95-99 the theft lock is in the pcm, cluster, and ignition. In the 00+ it uses the PCM, BCM, and ignition.

Your 99 computer was working fine, just no Tac. right? The Tac is driven off the IGN. Control module. Check the wires there, or @ the PCM...... or possibly your Tac is messed up.

Good to see your still working on that beast.

Good to see you again buddy...I miss the blue beast....... well the ignition wires are all fine....it is a new harness but out of a 2000, I swapped the serial wire on the harness by the pcm pins and thats all that had to be swapped.....with the 99 and the 2000 pcm the car started up and shut off....two days later I changed nothing....nothing at all.....I pushed my car back into the shop and now it wont start,.......cleaned off the plugs and pistons and dumped some oil down the cylinders and now it just backfires....doesn;t start....every now and then it would kinda run but then die within a second...and I was never able to learn the pcm to the car the theft light never blinked and just stayed on......so I am lost....and now it loks like I have some leakage from the brand new zero miles head gasket between cylinder 2 and 3.....so now I am seriously considering starting over... pull the engine...rebuild it make sure the block and head are flat....new headgasket and then sort out the wiring......and SPEEDRACERZ.....if your looking for an interesting side job....I got one fore you I am pretty much down to my last resort
