He guys i have a friend who just purchased a 98 Z24 manual and he wants to know what the shift point are for this car

Um... in a manual car, you pick the shift points. At light throttle the shift light will come on at like 2 grand, but you can bring it all the way up to redline if you want.

yea.. the little light that comes on is a pre-programed shift point for fuel efficiency.

the light comes on based on all the info the car gets to maintain good fuel and power on a hard accel it lights later then a gentle take off. so if he is looking for best fuel econ stick with the light. if best power the light is still fairly accurate. in a hard take off or race i will shift around 5000-5500. but it is how he is trying to drive and how he wants to drive it

Why are you shifting @ 5500 in a race?

I know my 2.4 doesn't do much past 6k so I rarely take it up there. If just driving hard, I shift at 5500 since I don't want to be too hard on the engine.

same hear and it seems to me i can roll faster if i shift at 5500 then if let go to 6000 or later.
