Mine did the same thing. If you put it off long enough and don't buy the headlight switch, then your high beams will go out too. I'm too poor to buy one right now, but expect to pay $40+ for a headlight switch.
They're not hard to replace - Get a torx wrench and locate the 3 bolts under the steering column cover. I forgot what number torx, but if you buy a set from walmart for $7, the right size comes with it. Take those out and take off the cover. Then you should see the bolts for the headlight switch (one on top of the column, and one sorta behind the steering wheel). If you don't want to take off the steering wheel to get to the bolt behind the steering wheel, then just use needle nose pliers. After that, just unplug the harnesses (one for blinkers/hazards, one for headlights/parking lights, and one for cruise if you have it). Put your new one in and your done!

On my sunfire it was 5 bolts total. three that hold the lower column cover and two on the actual switch. One on top and one on the side. Those you need the torx bit for. probably 40-75 depending on cruise or not.

Yup.. same problem.

I sell used switches on Ebay whenever I have them... they usually go for $9.99. Check there first.

I paid $105 for the switch...nothing...$30 for relay...nothing...welleverything except the lowbeams stuck with these cant take back guess theres a wiring prob............been goin on for awile.........I now have ducktape over the top of my headlights like eyelids to "dimmin" the highs that im stuck with. its been a bitch so far trying to find the right wire

I'm not sure about your specific problem, but I do know that all the exterior lights in our cars are connected in strange ways. A problem (usually a bulb being burnt out) with ANY exterior light could be a source of problem for any other light.
