After Market Steering Wheel & Airbag Light

Ok, I know there are a bunch of threads about how to install an aftermarket steering wheel. But I didn't see any that addressed the issue of turning off the in-dash Airbag Warning Indicator. Does any body know how to turn it off ( without putting a peice of electrical tape across it)?

i asked that question a little while ago and i was told that you can't disable the light.......but if anyone has a trick i'd like to know too.......The only thing i could think of is taking the cluster off and finding the buld for the airbag and covering it with something, then re-assemble the cluster and the light will still be on, but you wont see it

I hope the car that you are removing the airbag in is just a trailer queen, and not something that is on the road.

i understand peoples arguments about getting in accidents without airbags and walking away. BUT to me, it seems just to be luck of the draw, i dont think they would spend the kinda money the do, on air bags and other safety devices if they werent just that...safety devices.

Airbags are supplemental safety devices that are meant to be used in conjunction with seat-belts. Bottom line, you and your passengers have a better chance of walking away from a serious accident in a vehicle that is equipped with airbags as opposed to one that isn't.

Disabling your airbags on a daily driver for the sake of cosmetic appeal is simply stupid.

As for insurance, it would suck to find out after the fact that your broker won't cover the accident related costs because they found out that you had intentionally disabled your airbag system. Some insurance companies might even drop you for that reason alone. They can't really do anything if you drive an older vehicle that was never equipped with them. But if you do disable a factory safety feature on your vehicle......primary, supplemental, or otherwise....you better believe that your insurance will yank the carpet out from under you in the blink of an eye.

That being said, I love the look of a good after-market wheel. I wish I could honestly justify putting one in my car. My brain just won't let me do it.
