You guys are thinking of the tuner tube. Don't waste your time on that one.

But the "bong" in the fender well will probably help some. You can def. hear the difference.

Possibly less restrictive intake path, less weight, and better sound. I say go ahead and take it off, just don't do it the way I did and get hit by a drunk.

Can you elaborate on that a little?

The way he put it sounded like *he* himself was hit by the drunk, but I did know what he meant.

i was looking at this today because i never removed the Billy Bong Thornton when I did my cold air. How the hell do you get it out of the fender well and what does it do when it's not there?

If you have an aftermarket intake you are already bypassing it anyways.

It just restricts incoming air for emissions... less in = less out

spotabee: you have to remove your fender liner first, then there are like 3 bolts/clips hold the bong in, pop um out and there u go. It helps to have the car jacked up a little though, i know on mine when i pulled it out it was touching the ground and half was still in the fender liner, so it took somewrestling to get it out.

I had replaced my normal air filter with a K&N. (Until I'm ready for engine mods)

Didn't see much of a performance increase, but soon as I removed that "bong", There is a significant change in throttle response.

i will do that. i can't even get to my fender liner without the car being lifted a lot because i have no wheelgap.

I have just inherited my wife's Sunfire, so I'm still new to getting started on the mods. What exactly is the "bong" and what does it do. Other question, the city I live in requires emissions testing if I were to remove this would it still pass?
Also, if anyone has any suggestions on things that really do lower the MPG please let me know, I drive 70 miles round trip to work.

can u do this on a stock cavy and not get a bunch of crap in ur intake?
Re: removing the bong = increase in mpg
Friday, June 03, 2005 7:58 PM
Yes, if you still have your airbox and filter. Although, I would suggest an aftermarket intake if you do so.

If you're not too concerned with an aftermarket intake (or the quality thereof) do what I did, go to autzone and pickup their generic tube and a spectra filter. It'll cost ya $35. If you put the intake tube on backwords from the way it come packaged it fites perfect.
