i got a 96 sunfire gt and was wondering if it hard to change over from the 2.4 manifold to a 2.3 manifold. do you guys think that this is worth the time and the money. if it is can anybody tell me how to do it. i got the manifold cheap and was wanting to get the most out of my 2.4

yea it works... is it hard to change... your best bet is to search in the performance section under archives for 2.3L HO Manifold... there is a ton of info there. Otherwise you can check out that ny-jbodies.com site under their library they have instructions on how to change it over. It doesn't look like rocket science, but the egr is probably going to be the biatch of all... if you can work around that damned check engine light, you should be fine...

since you have a 96 you will have to get an EGR simulator and block plates and do a hole mess of other stuff...im currently in the middle of doin research on this as well

where would i get the EGR simulator and block plates because i did not know that. as far as the intake it would have to be custom or is there already one made for purchase.

as far as tubing...that is all custom.....you can get the block plates from GM from a 99 w/0 an EGR and the EGR simulator can be gotten from ZZperformance

99's didn't have an egr? how about a part # off from them? how expensive is the simulator? we just purchased a 97 sunfire convt and a 98 z24. one guy that I talked to at a scrapyard said that the main demise of the 2.4's are the carbon build-up around the egr. anyone know anything about this? is it possible to eliminate this problem with a header or by eliminating the egr?

2.4 EGR block off plate: 24575505
also pick up a new EGR gasket to go with it (bracket to head gasket)

EGR Sim (w/o block off)
