A little survey on manual cars

I'm just conducting a little survey to find out where the catch point of the clutch is on our cars as not every car is the same

Ie: Is the catch point on your car at the firewall, in the middle of travel or about an inch or less away from being fully engaged.

after i bleed my clutch line, the catch point was all the way at the top. after a few hours of driving it returned to normal and it catches about 1/4 of the way past the firewall

I would say mine is about mid point.

speaking of bleeding the clutch how do you do this in our cars

Mine is about 2 inches from when it is almost fully depressed... it used to be 2 inches from the firewall... but now I almost have to lift my foot off the pedal before it finally engages. It still engages hard, and I can chirp in third, so I know the clutch is fine. My master cylinder was replaced when I purchased the clutch. It was fine for about 2 months, then it turned into this...

Oh and it feels a lot spongier...

i say about half on mine too.

Shawn wright, open the hood and look at the top on the trans. on the drivers side. There's two metal pieces that come out....one has a plastic piece around it and the one on top shouldn't have anything. It's a 9/16 fitting. Bleeding it should be just like bleeding brakes (you're gonna need 2 people for it, from my experience). Be sure to watch the fluid level in the resevoir. Anyone else, feel free to add info

Mine would always catch about 2/3 of the way up, but I haven't driven it since the new clutch, cylinders, and engine.
Soon enough, though.

I would say also around 2/3 of the way up. This makes it kind of hard for people do get in and drive my car who aren't used to it.

Drove a new car (48 miles) last weekend. I'd say 1 1/2 to 2 inches from the top, and pretty sharp engagement.

i think its like half way up, or close to it

81,000 miles on it, stock clutch

mine is about 1 or 2 inches from all the way out. does this mean the master cylinder is bad or could it just be the car. it is the stock cylinder and it is a 96 w/ 130k on it?
