yea that light is the most annoying thing ever, and the best part is its just tellin you to shift for best gas mileage

you cant just go grab a new cluster from 98 and 99 the mileage is stored in the cluster. So if you change it your going to have the old mileage from the cluster replacement.

if its not the digital one, which i doubt, you can take it out. when i swapped clusters in my cav, i took apart the whole cluster and i put my milage in the new cluster to keep it the same.

yea it does. i put black electrical tape over mine. took care of that problem

hmm. you have a manual, i dont see how you never noticed it. its on the bottom left of the cluster. its orange w/ a arrow that points up. its pretty much useless and gets on peoples nerves

I have a 2000 auto and no tach so when i shift I just have to hear it or feel it in the car, I've gotten used to it though....but I feel GM ripped me

I don't think it is good for your trans if you shift the car but i do it every once in a blue moon for the fun.

I've got an 02 2.2 manual and it came with tach and little stupid shift arrow.

instead of all the work and switching, why dont you just buy a dash tach?

my friends 95 cavy 5speed also didnt have a tach, just an option. my 02 cavy 5speed has a tach, but my 93 nissan pickup 5pseed doesnt have one.

Why are you shifting an auto. Put it in drive, the car has been well trained on when to shift.
