Rear drum shoes-03 cav sport

I am getting so tired of parts not being available for the newer cars!! Has anyone had problems finding rear brake shoes for their 03-05 cav, the part numbers are completely different and so are the shoes from the 02's so they aren't interchangable. I bought a pair from checker only to find out they do not have the parking brake lever-thought about going without a parking brake. I just called a chevy dealer and they quoted me almost $200, sorry not paying that much for brake shoes. Let me know your opinions, thanks.

I went through the same crap...

Dealer was only one to have them for $200+, now AutoZone and Advance say they have them, i havent picked em up yet to see if they are correct ones though.

I am just thinking of upgrading to a full sport disk kit.

3 months after I got my car( bought it brand new with 4 miles on it), the rear brakes smell like burning rubber, after driving the car fast or hard for a short time.

I now have around 50K miles on it, and need to replace the front rotors, they are warped, and back brakes are still smelling like burning rubber after getting hot.
I have replaced the front pads 3 times already(i have driven from IN to FL, IN to NM, IN to NY, IN to CA, IN to AZ... just to name a few long drives I've taken).

I was going to put new slotted rotors on today, but I can't leave the kids alone in the house for that long.

I have 35k on my car, the shoes are worn and should be replaced. I was going to do the front and back brakes and rotate the tires all at once, but with the price for rear shoes I'll just hold out-they aren't too bad. I do a lot of hard braking so I'd love to do disk all around but I don't have that kind of money to drop on a project like that. Thanks for the info guys.

wow ive gotten well over 60k on the stock rears

and mine are smaller than the 03-05 rears

which is why they are not interchangable

Yeah... as stated.. the 03+ rears are larger in diameter... different drum, backing plate, shoes, etc...

It was apparently an option on the older cars, but no one actually got it.. at least, I've never seen it on an older car. I thought about upgrading to larger drums in my first 00 car.. but never bothered.. then I went with the Baer kit, so it was no longer a consideration.

I've been able to find them locally here... when I was pricing them out in 2001 they were easy to find.
