so if we take this off the paper and put it into practice, with air resistance... and the j-bodie's aerodynamic handicap... that thing will never hit the freakin ground

There use to be a guy on the ORG who was over sea's with his Sunfire n/a with some mods clocked at 148mph. With the right mods, or built motor, or turbo over 150 could be done. Not that there would be a need.

Personally i have had eco at 5500 rpm in 5th on the highway. I dont know the actuall speed on this but, the car takes for ever to climb those rpms at those speeds, a nice shot of n02 would fix that!

Does any one know how to caculate speed on rpm+gear ratio+final drive ratio+tire size?

idk you just need to know all the ratios.. and if you dont know that, start counting gear teeth.. haha

Transmissions
Getrag F23 Hydra-Matic 4T45-E
Type: 5-speed man FWD transverse 4-speed auto FWD transverse
Gear ratios (:1):
First: 3.58 2.96
Second: 2.02 1.62
Third: 1.35 1.00
Fourth: 0.98 0.68
Fifth: 0.69 –
Reverse: 3.31 2.14
Final drive ratio: 3.94 3.63

found some ratios to play with, who's got the calculations?

What way is the wind blowing?

Are we going downhill?

What weight has been added/removed from the stock car?

Is the driver fat?

Has the antenna been removed?

No matter what anyone says, I guarentee it goes faster if there's a cop behind you.

I suppose i can cover half of this now and the other half tomorrow.

FIRST you need your OVERALL RATIO. You get this by taking the gear ratio and MULTIPLYING with the FINAL DRIVE.

EXAMPLE:

1st gear 3.58 x final drive 3.94 = 14.10 OVERALL RATIO

NEXT

Take the Engine RPM and DIVIDE it with the OVERALL RATIO. This will give you WHEEL RPM.

EXAMPLE

6200 (engine RPM) divided by 14.10 (overall ratio in 1st) = 439.72 wheel RPM.

Tomorrow class, I will cover how to find your tire size (diameter) and how to plug it into the formula to find distance per RPM.

PART II

I will use the tyres for my supra for an example.

225/60/14

225 is width in millimeters

60 is aspect ratio, or a percent of width, representing height

14 is rim size in inches.

Take the width and divide by 25.4

225 / 25.4 = 8.85"

Then take the width in inches and multiply by aspect ratio

8.85 x .60 = 5.31"

Then add tyre height and wheel diameter.

5.31 + 14 = 19.31"

I think thats due to the fact that you're in overdrive

short ratio trannys are not meant for top speed, they're meant for acceleration

Damn i need an edit button. the last part of the equation is 2 x height as there is a sidewall on both sides of the wheel.

so it would be :

(2 x 5.31) + 14 = 24.62"

So for every wheel RPM the distance traveled is 24.62"

In 5th gear that averages somewhere aroun 25 to 27 MPH for every 1000 RPM. When I get onto dyno I'll tell you cause I have a toggle switch for my speed limiter. Then I'll post the dyno. Won't be for about a year and a half though cause I'm in Afghanistan right now. 27 x 5= 135 1/5 x 27= 5.4 135+ 5.4 = 140.4 Though the numbers aren't exact. Although I seen sometime ago on here that the top mph was 143.6

can someone tell me more about this toggle switch idea

short answer......no, nobody will tell you this answer on this site, so stop asking. not trying to be a dick, but thats the way it is, speed limiter removal questions are not asked here.....EVER

I've seen a beretta with a 3400 swap hit 140 with disables speed limiter.
Ive also seen a 2.2ohv beretta hit 111 (older so no limiter)

Vids on beretta speed.com. Probably the same on the cavi because of design, weight ect. Wonder what speed an ECOTEC could hit...... lets find out after warrenty expires....
