Saturn and Chevy Ecotecs are they the same
Monday, July 04, 2005 4:50 PM
I need to find out if anyone knows is the Saturn and the Chevy Ecotecs are the same as far as the fuel rails, sensors and any other electronic device on the motor. I am going to use an aftermarket computer and i was told that the computer is designed for the Saturn. The cavalier motors are easier to find used so any info would be very helpfull.
Thanks Bob

Depends on the Ecotec. There are a number of them that have been used between the two. As for the Modern Eco 2.2. Yea, the same.

Saturns used a 1.9 eco a few years before they started using the 2.2.....

The Eco family of engines have been around for a few years in Saturn and and some overseas platforms. Modern Eco = 2.2L DOHC we have all come to know and love.

In what country did they use 1.9 eco's? The 1.9 liter engines they were using here were no eco's. The was a SOHC and a DOHC 1.9 liter. It wasn't an eco though.

Read, then process the info, think logically, than if you don't have a headache afterwards, post your response

The 1.9 was not a "eco". I was a single & dual overhead engine.

The 2.2 ecotec was first introduced in all 4 cyl. L series cars, which started in 2000.

Saturn used 1.9 SOHC & DOHC from 1991-2002. With varing intakes and TBs on the DOHC.

Also to add, the ecotec in 2000 L series cars is the exact same all the way to 2004.
In 2005 the fuel rail design was changed.

Ok, you might be right. I just know in Saturns, they stayed the same till 2004. I don't have access to Chevy parts catalog; only Saturn.
