Anyone know how to remedy the lumber sound that comes from the rear left strut mount on 97 sunfires? We replaced it and it just came back. I know this is a common problem so I'm quessing someone has done it. It;s my dads car so replacing the suspension with koni stuts and eibach springs isn't going to work here.

just turn the radio up louder...

you won't hear it...

what you can't hear, won't bother you....

Ball joint? When i had my struts replaced on my Sunbird, the Ball joints and bearing plates all had to be done, they were all worn, might be it since you replaced the bearing plates (Strut Mount). You try changing the struts? Maybe they're binding somehow?

That would help if he was talking about the front..but the lumber noise is in the rear.
I'm actually having the same problem with my '97 z24. I changed both mounts and shocks(everything in the rear was shot)..but i still have the noise on the right rear. I remember awhile back GM had a service action of some sort for the rear mounts and lumber noise. Think is was that if the client made a complaint of rear lumber noise they'd change the rear mounts..dunno if it was for free or not..but it was on the '97 j-bodies
