can you harm anything if you hit the motor mount ?

if you are racing someone and you hit a sewer cover at 60 mph and it bends the mount and now when i go to start the car the car starts all weird and also my shifting in it seems to be alittle off. i have a 2003 cavalier 5 speed, and i have ZEX nitrous and i havnt had any problems with it. but i really need to know about the motor mount as soon as possible.

why dont you replace it? if its bent, its gonna break.

Not to mention if it is bent that bad then you are stressing the other mounts . Just go to the dealer and pick up another one . They are not that expensive compared to having to replace other things that may break because of it .

well right now since the other night i have been havin some weird start ups and also it doesnt seem to be turning over right and also i did a full tune up on it today thinking that it could be a help to it and it didnt do anything. also what are the psi for the fuel pressure suppose to be for a 2003 cavalier?

does the engine run? could be you bashed more than your motor mount.. but definitely get it replaced... it would suck to have your engine fall out.. lol. and i think the fuel pressure is somewhere in the 30s psi.

I'm not certain on this but it would be my best guess psi for fuel pressure between 28-32.

The broken mount is now putting extra pressure on the other ones, they will waer out faster now unless you replace the broken one.

The engine will not just fall out, thats impossible, for one it is bolted to the trans in there, two just because a mount is bad and if the others go bad it wil just fall out, might sit slighty lower, finally it would hit the subframe before it may it all the way down.

As for the hard starting there is a possibly that the broken motor mount is making that part of the engine sit lower which is making the flywheel misaligned, and if the starter cant catch the flywheel teeth it wont start right.

Actually the pressure may be around 45 PSI at WOT and may be at around 35 PSI give or take at idle . You creamed the lower engine strut mount ( dogbone mount ) did'nt ya' . If that is the case then the lower engine strut mount for the engine should'nt be to expensive .

Tell us some more about the wierd starting and problems . It could be because of the lower strut mount being bent causing the engine to be in a bind . But I have a hard time believing that the engine would be dragging because of the flywheel being misaligned . The engine is bolted to the tranny with 7 - 15mm bolts . Check your wiring you might have pulled something lose when the engine shifted .

After the engine is running does it idle normally . Does the starter have a dragging sound and seems to rotate the engine slower ?

stop being a moron and buy a new motor mount...go to Carcustoms.net and buy a solid motor mount from Karo...they dont cost that much

well right now im seeing it as that it aint the motor mount it seems to be the transmission that got the worst of the deal, it is making a very bad vibrating noise and shaking the floor of the car, so right now my guess is leaning that something got screwed in the transmission area and my next question is if thats the case whats the best route to take to fix this?

i bent my motor mount once, and my engine vibrated horibly at idle, i also hit a manhole but i wasnt street racing like a fool. its probally the motor mount just replace it. if its the tranny then the bottom of it should have some really big scratches/dents/peices missing, considering you hit a solid piece of metal at 60 mph.

Of course your engines going to vibrate. It's not sitting corrrectly and stress is caused on the other mounts. Basically now your pulling/pushing on the upper mount. My guess is that the mount is cruched up forcing the engine to sit higher, which in return the upper mount is neutralized and letting the engine have play(which will cause your vibration). Dude stop wasting your money on other parts..mainly if you "Have" noticed the lower mount bent already. Change the lower mount like enveryones telling you too and call it a day, if by then it doesn't solve anything..your now able to diagnos the problem further
