I need to replace the Goodyear Eagle tires that came on my cavalier. Any ideas on a good replacement anything but Goodyears.

Falken, BFGoodrich...really depends on the person on what they would choose but those are 2 companies that make high quality all around tires.

do you need all-season or not?
i went with a performance all-season....Hankook Ventus HRII 405. i like everything about them better than the RSA's. quieter, smoother, good looking tread, much stickier in the corners. i'm not crazy about the sidewall but there's nothing wrong with it. i got them at a great price too. check them out.

by the way....i replaced my RSA's with over 185,000km's on them. they were still legal. there's not a doubt in my mind that they would have reached 200,000km (120,000miles). so like em or not....they sure last.

I had a bad experience with them and know a shop that won't even sell Kumhos because of problems, so I wouldn't suggest them.

I've always sworn by BFG all-weather high performance, like the Comp TA all seasons. Very smooth, quiet ride, and they handle well in all weather.

I recently tried Hancook Ventus, but I haven't put more than a couple of miles on them due to the car being in the middle of some major overhauling, so I don't have any input yet.

What kind of problems?? I've got 716 HP4's on my 01 fire right now and I just bought some Kumho's to put on the wife's 99 Outback wagon. I buy the Kumho's because they always get good ratings on Tire Rack and are a great value for the price.

In NJ the roads aren't the greatest so absorbing very hard potholes wasn't that great. All 4 of my tires ended up bubbling up (some tires has 2 bubbles) and forcing me to spend more money on a new wheel and tire package. By the way, my Nankang's are holding up MUCH better than my Kumhos.

A side note, my old tires were 205/40R17 which is a bit lower profile. I have 215/45R17 right now on the Nankangs.

Gotcha, yeah there's no way i'm running smaller sidewall tires on NE roads. Doesn't matter the state, because of the snow and all the salt that gets used the roads suck. I don't think I'll have that problem on stock sized tires.
