Production numbers?

Anyone have an idea of how many ecotec 2002 sunfires were made?
Are these rare?

I've asked... GM either doesn't know, doesn't care, or just won't tell me.

I dunno about lots... well maybe...

2002 was a transition year... you could get a 2200 (the pushrod 2.2L) all year long... half way thru the model year, the 2.4L (and Z24 designation, in the USA) was dropped, and the 2.2L Ecotec was introduced (and the Z24 became the LS Sport).

So figure half of the GT's made in 2002 were 2.4L's, and the other half were 2.2L Ecotecs.

Of the 128,208 Sunfires made in the 2002 model year, let's say 10% of those were GT's. (I don't know if that's even CLOSE to being accurate.. but let's just go with it) That's 12,821 GT's. If half of them were 2.4L's, and half were Eco's... then that means there were 6,410 GT's with Ecos built.

Rare? Not by any means.

Harder to find than a base model with a pushrod 2.2L? Sure.
