2000 convertibles rare?
Tuesday, April 19, 2005 7:05 PM
I really like the cavalier convertibles especially the last year 2000 right? or were there some made in 2001? Anyways later on i'll probably buy a 5spd convertible, are these rare? I'm thinking about changing the look to a 2005, just to be unique i guess.

2000 was the last year of the convertable. Rare, eh... Rare for a Cavalier. Rarest of the 2000's.

there are a few on here, i searched the database, this is what i found:

1995-2000 Chevrolet Cavalier Convertibles
186 Auto
51 Manual

51/237 only 21% of cavalier convertibles are 5spd, this also includes LS convertibles.

For 2000
8 manuals
21 Automatics

8/29 only 27% of 2000 convertibles are 5spd.

Would a strut tower brace from 2000 ls coupe convertable, with a 2200, fit on a 2002 ls with a 2200?

Yeah mine ride would have been a 99 Z24 vert if it had had the 5 speed, but it sisnt and i just didnt want an auto.

Oh well, if you go to autotrader.com and do a search you can always find a few 5 spd verts for sale, just depends on how far you want to go to get it.

I've heard that the 5spd conv. were rare. Wish I could've found one before I bought my car. I'm thinking of doing a swap when I can afford it.

yes... yes it would.... if yours has crusie and the vert doesnt then you h ave to bend the bracket for cruise a lil... if not its a direct fit... so yes it will work....

Well for starters starting in 98 i believe all verts have the 2.4 only. So i dont think you will find a 2000 vert with a 2200.

But im sure the strut tower bar is the same for either engine, so it should still work.

If you look deeper... all 2000 convertibles were auto, unless they were special ordered. I believe Chrissy (Cloney)'s car was the only one I found on here. Hell of a time trying to get a VCI from GM to reflash my computer... they don't support transmission swaps.

95-99 convertibles came with 5 speed transmissions... no problems finding them.

Long time lurker....first time poster....wanted to chime in on this one. I have a 2000 Cavalier Z24 Convertible with a Manual Transmission. I bought it last year from a CarMax in Indianapolis. From what I'm reading here it sounds like my car is a little rare. I find that interesting.

My only beef with it is it leaks where the top meets the windshield above the drivers door and above the passenger door. Oh...and when the top is down the passenger side is still 2 inches higher than the drivers side...doesn't fold as flat over ther for some reason.

man this post is old... lol

I found a 2000 5spd convertible around here, some chrysler dealer wanted $16,000 CDN for it + 15% taxes, 87,000km on it, rip off. I was reading the newspaper and now they got it for 99$/ 2 weeks, so they lowered the price a bit.
