cutting a hole in the floor for the fuel pump

im pretty sure at this point that im gonna put ahole into the floor to get easy acess to the fuel pump. ill make a panel for it later down the line. i need to know where to drill, i was thinking of marking it osmehow form thre bottom but things are tight in there. if anyone has a pic of somethign similar in a third gen cavy and has a pic it would make things smoother for me.

I would hope he drops the tack before welding! That would be a big BOOM!

tank would come odwn before i welded a panel in place, thats why i was going to make a trap door for it instead with a rubber seal or use a giant grommet. if im gonna end u pwelding it back up il ljt drop the tank, if its gotta come down either way then whats the difference

Im going to do this in a few months...

I planned on dropping the tank- cutting out a square hole, and making a piece of metal to cover it, same curve as the body...

I was going to drill a few 3/8" holes around the outside of the square hole- put some bolts up from the bottom and weld them in place-- then use wingnuts to hold the metal plate in place from the backseat...

Gonna run some rubber weather stripping around the hole and on the plate..

You'll have to take some measurements, or at least try to eye it up...

You would definately have to drop the tank.

If anything, make an access panel and drill holes to mount it with either door panel clips of use pop rivots.

Is that pic photo shopped?
My only concern on this. With the whole done is there enought slack in the fuel lines to put the pump all the way up?

Nope,no Photoshop. You just have to pull the lines off of the module. Good luck on getting the lines off, I have heard that its a bitch.

you could always unhook the lines from underneath the car instead of risking the chance of breaking the connections up top. the ones underneath are just quick connects. and you should be able to pull the fuel line through the hole. maybe not though. i haven't tested.

Only problem is the tank is holding the lines between it and the underneath of the car. Not sure how that will work.

Pulling the lines off the cup is not an option. I tried.... I snapped one of the nipples off. So I tried to beat the system and cut the line off the other one. It was then impossilbe to get a leak proof seal when putting the fuel line back on. I ended up clamping on high pressure fuel line and tossed the hard plastic lines.

My suggestion is to cut the hard lines and replace them before you break a nipple off. I had to cut the top and make a new nipple. It would have saved me like 2 days if I would have done that in the first place.
