im having problems with that fuse. i need to know what it is for (the car shuts off when it blows) and where it goes to. it randomly blows out for no reason. i can drive the car all day hard as i want stereo blasting lights on everything and it wont blow. but then when there is 3 people in the car it seems to blow but not right away. it will drive for 10 mins then blow. i replace it and as soon as i start to take off it will blow again. then out of nowhere it will work for a while. get it home let it sit for a day and it wont do it again.
what the hell kind of short would cause these kinds of symtoms other than my car being possesed by some j-body spirit?

Can't you look at the diagram on the fuse box door and tell us what fuse it is?

What year u working on and what fuse number is it need this info so I can help u. give a shout.

Per your registry, I'm gonna guess that it is for your 96 Cavi.
Also, I'm gonna guess that based on your image that it is the radio fuse that you are having difficulty with.
The only thing that is hooked up to that circuit is the audio system, specifically the head unit. The only thing that I can think of off hand would be that the power wire to the HU is frayed slightly. It will occasionally ground out, and blow the fuse.
^^^ thanks for the info but i dont think it is the audio fuse just for the fact that the engine shuts off when the fuse blows. unless gm wired the car really really weird. also on another note, the fuse only blows when there is anyone in the back seat. i havent checked yet if there is maybe a wire bundle that goes under or around it.
Ok, I need to correct my fuse selection. In my Chiltons manual, it's not labeled "Front of Car", so when I looked at the diagram, I selected Radio.
The correct fuse, should be a 20A (yellow) right?
If so that would be the F/P / Inj fuse.
Per the Chiltons, all it says that is hooked up to it is the MultiPort Injection system, probably a wire to the fuel pump (as it is near to the back seat area).
To my knowledge there isn't a harness going under the seat, it would be routed through the side trim panels.
Thank you sooooooo much! i thought it had something to do with fuel! i guess i will try and find a wireing diagram and find out where it is ran and what i can find wrong with it.
if it only happens with people in the back.....id bet its a frayed wire to the fuel pump that grounds out and pops the fuse.......find the wire, tape it up real good and hope for the best
if no luck.......take out the backseat and be done with it
