No. No such thing exists at the moment. If you want to get that involved, you can spend some serious coin in a full engine management system such as what AEM sells.

Like he said, you'll be spending some big cash on that kind of setup.

Are you heavily modified? If your not , there is really no point in making your shift points higher because you'd be in an RPM that you're not making power in (outside of your powerband).

Also, getting rid of the governor is really not useful if your car can't handle going those speeds. Our stock suspension, tires & brakes are bad enough...having more stress on them at that speed and trying to slow down from those speeds won't be so pretty. MPH doesn't equal how fast you are. Usually people who NEED to get rid of the governor need it for racing purposes (legal racing) because they are running close to their limiter by time they cross the 1/4 mile mark and don't want to accidentally hit the limiter, cut the fuel and have big issues.

Also, all a jet chip does is throw more fuel into your motor which you don't necessarily need and would give you worse gas mileage. If you seriously needed to tune your fuel, you should invest in an Apexi SAFC-2 or Greddy E-manage...but that will happen when you start to get more involved in your car.

Sorry if I talked your ear off (or talked the post off lol) but just trying to explain it to you in more depth. Hope you understand what I was saying.

If you have any questions about what I said, just ask.

Not necessarily. There is a video of a Turbo ECOTEC Cavalier who surpassed 110 and went to about 120+. It all depends on how your car is built motor wise and if your suspension, brakes and tires can handle those speeds.

110 thats crap...i get 106 in 4th gear and my car is solid as a rock at that speed....106 hits about 4800 rpms in 5th so im sure that my car can handle 120 easy...im driving an '03 ls with a 5spd so what is this 110 crap?

Sure, on a straight away you might be ok at 106...now try going 106 on a highway slight turn...you'll notice you would start to feel a bit unstable. Now try and go 106 and slow down to 55 and see how long it takes you and how efficient you slow down. Our cars weren't meant to or weren't built to surpass 108 (and weren't barely built to go 108). Our suspensions are bad for high speeds, our brakes are bad for braking at high speeds and our stock tires weren't especially made to surpass those speeds.

I wouldn't be able to explain how to get rid of the governor and you shouldn't ask or post that question on the org...it's very controversal and also they don't want any liability issues coming down to the org as fault for giving that information out.

i ran 105 the whole way back from g-ville fla to columbia sc and it was stable the whole time...no high speed wobble no noises or shakes...although i do have some nicer tires but that is basically it.

You might have been OK at 105 but the point is you should be going that fast on the streets and you shouldn't be going any faster than the governor sets it. Like said...drive at 107 then slam on the brakes and see what happends.

first of all it really doesnt matter what car you are in slamming on the brakes at any speed isnt gonna be good....

Actually, yes it does. Do you think a Corvette stops as fast and handles as good as your cavalier? No. Each car is built a certain way depending on their suspension, braking system, tires and their aerodynamics. Your car wasn't meant to be going that fast in the first place and shouldn't be going any faster. Like said, if you take a Corvette at 107 and slam on the brakes and take your Cavalier and slam on the brakes you will see which car stops faster and handles better slowing down.

So yes, it does matter what car you have.

yep...

J Bodies arent meant to be driven that fast in stock or near stock form... highly modified maybe.. I Needed to get rid of my governor because of my performance end. I have upgraded brakes and am still worried because they dont like braking at those high speeds

i dont plan on taking my governor off yet i was just saying that it feels stable then and i know its not gonna be good to slam on the brakes at triple digit speeds but what car likes doin that? hell you slam on the brakes doin 60 and most cars like to get loose unless modified

The point is when you're going that fast NOT on a track, there is a major safety issue. You don't know if a mile up you have to stop because there is traffic coming up and you have to slam on your brakes to actually slow down to a proper speed.

lets end this thread and just say (like it has been the entire post) our cars werent ment to be driven at high speeds unless u have some serious work done. if u need to go past 108 then u should have plenty of exp with cars and shouldnt have to ask, u should know what to do. it doesnt matter what "jon doe" drove his car 100+ mph. our cars werent made to be driven like that. yes we have a nice engine but it doesnt matter our suispension/tires/brakes in oem form SUCK! plz can we let this one go now.....

To hell with the brakes....

guess what happens when you hit <insert anything here> at 30+ MPH over the speed limit?

100 mph in a J-body is going to get someone killed... and I hate to say it... but try and just off yourself, ok? Don't take innocent people out with you.

/end a$$hole rant
