power windows

alright, well i just bought a 1999 cav z24 about 2 1/2 months ago. Awesome car compared to my old 1993 Sunbird le kickin out 98hp. About a week ago, i went to roll up my window and well nothing happened when i pressed the button. when i came back to my car, started it up and tried rolling up the window again. the window went up just a little bit and like died again.
the window still rolls up and down, but it just craps out, you have to wait about 5 minutes. try again and the samething happens, it rolls up or down and craps out for a bit. im guessing theres something wrong with some wiring of some sort causing it to short out or whatever its doing.
so if anyone can give me some feedback, that would be great. thanx!

Sounds like a short. I had one in mine, and it kinda all went the same day. Could also be the motor for the window. Im not sure if these things usually go bad, but I know a few who have had problems! Sad thing is mines an 04. I'd say try not to mess with it until your ready to pull the thing apart to check it. We did that to mine and the window eventually got stuck!

Sounds like the motor. That's what happens when they die.

Not an easy job to do, but if you can grind off rivets, you're good to go.

check the voltage at the connectors in the door, but probably the motor(s)

sorry to hear man, got 2 from advance for under $100 with LLW, it was a pain to change the first time but won't be anything now but a little time out.

thanks mikec2003 for the heads up on motors

Mine just did the same thing. But since i work in an electric motor repair shop, mine are getting repaired Make sure your tracks are greased enough. What happens is they become dry and create more friction. That friction makes the motor work harder eventually overheating the motor causing it to kick a thermo. The thermo resets and it works again.
