99 z24 drivers side window
Monday, September 12, 2005 9:30 AM
about a month ago my drivers side window in my 99 z24 pretty much died. i stopped into best buy, i rolled up windows...and the drivers side window decided it didnt want to work anymore. it didnt died completely, it works a little bit. at first i could roll my window down just fine. rolling the window up was the difficult part, i'd press the button the window would roll up a couple inches, die. i'd try rolling it back up a couple minutes later, samething it would go up a couple inches a die.
i try not to roll down to window ,i only roll it down like half way on really hot days....my a/c doesnt work theres a hole that needs to me patched. Drive through have been fun the past month, i would forget my window is broken. i'd start to roll the window down and it would die like 1/4 the way down. And then i get to pop through the moonroof to get my food! anyways now the window has just slowly getting worse, die while rolling down. barely moves now then i try to roll the window up.

Window motor i am guessing. If window was off track you would know it. It wouldn't want to move at all.

its the window motor, it has happened to me before, I just put a new one in and I was good till the day I traded her in for a new J.

1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door
2. Remove the electrical connection from the power window motor.
3. Remove the power window motor retaining bolts.
4. Remove the power window motor assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

1.Install the power window motor assembly to the vehicle.
2. Install the power window motor retaining bolts.
( Tighten the power window motor retaining bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).)
3. Install the electrical connector to the power window motor.
4. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door .

i had that exact same thing happen to my 95 z24, the motor on mine was fried. Make sure you get a motor from a junkyard if you are going to get an OEM replacement motor. GM doesn't sell just the motor itself it comes with a bunch of other stuff that you wont need.
