Rear Disc brakes....from a beetle?
Friday, September 23, 2005 6:43 AM
The other day I was looking at the rear discs on a Beetle sitting next to me at a red light. Then it occured to me:

Beetles have a rear twist beam axle type suspension like our J's do...and they have a 5x100 bolt pattern. Would this mean that it would be relatively easy to use Beetle rear Hubs with Disc Brake setup and convert our J's rear brakes with that?

Just a general question....dunno if it's been asked before.

Much easier to give Baer a call and order their kit, atleast thats what I did. Then you know its gonna work.

Take a look at the way the brake assembly attaches to the beetle. Then look at your car, if it looks very similar then it might be easy but it is definatly possible with enough work.
Right now I'm working on the Neon rear disc conversion, its already been done and its fairly simple so I recommend looking into that...
