Does anybody know how much horsepower and torque a 1996 sunfire 2.2l has ?

BTW it's a 2 door 5 speed

Hard to understand...maybe. HP 120@5250 rpm and Torque 130@4000 rpm.

120 hp is right for 95-97. Torque I am not sure about but 130 sounds about right. But I do know that 98 and up with the 2200 non ecotec is 115hp. No clue at to why it went down.

Ok everyone...this is to stop all the confussion...

1995-97 2.2 OHV - 120 Horsepower / 130 lbs of Torque
1998-2002 2200 OHV - 115 Horsepower / 135 lbs of Torque
1995 2.3 L.O. Quad 4 - 160 Horsepower / 155 lbs of Torque
1996-2002 2.4 TC - 150 Horsepower / 155 lbs of Torque
2002-2005 2.2 ECOTEC - 140 Horsepower / 150 lbs of Torque

150hp for the 2.3

The 92 Lo had 160hp. The 95 had smaller port, smaller cams, balance shaft and a chip that need to be change(for the 5spd).

In '98 the 2.2 had alot of minor changes, but the biggest factor for the decrease in HP and increase in Torque is a change in the cam profiling. GM did this to give the 2.2 a bit more mid-range power.

Nope...the LD9 in the J-Body always had around the 150HP/155TQ mark. No more.
