Dash quit

Changed the battery in my 2002 Cavalier. Got in, turned on the key and the dash is dead. No gages, no tach, no speedometer, no odometer, no lights except "check engine" and "theft." Dash illumination lamps work, and everything else I've checked works. Radio, wipers, that damned dinger, dome lamp, and so on. It starts and seems to run fine. Checked all fuses in the dash and under the hood, all good. Forgot to see if the alternator is putting out, I'll check it tomorrow. What next? Anyone have a wiring diagram they could scan? I just need the dash circuit. My guess is most of this info comes from the ECM?? Can't think of anything that would be common to all this...

OT: About a month ago I was chasing a problem in our 99 Cavalier. It was setting the CEL. Two codes, crank and cam sensor. Turned out to be, are you sitting down? The starter!! That one about drove me nuts.
