95 cavie with 110k miles.

I autocrossed since 2001, ran it on the track all day, ran winter rallycrosses, you name it.

It is an incredibly tough vehicle, if you do preemptive maintenance on it... meaning you replace wear parts before they fail... i did not replace much though, one head gasket, one injector seal, three wheel bearings. Thats it.

Guys from our local motorsports club scratch their heads in confusion when they see the old cavalier at the start of every autocross season alive and well...

1996 with 86,033 at rebuild (previous owner never changed the oil... something about the dealer giving them a lifetime warranty...)

Bought my 98 (2200) new in Dec 1997. 12 original miles and now Im right at about 70k. The only maintenance other then wearables and fluids was the water pump and idler pulley. Ive put a few mods on it but wasnt for maintenance reasons. Its been one solid car and will probably never get rid of it.

I have a 2002, 2200 w/ 60,005 miles today. Guess I can start pricing a timing belt.

My moms 98 sunfire with the 2200 3spd. auto it has 285,000km on it now, spark plugs have been only replaced I think 4-5 times doing it again today. oil has been changed regularily and other basic maintence has been kept up on it too. doing the brakes on it today aswell. the only big thing that needed to be replaced was the fan but that was only $100. the struts in the rear have been replaced to but possibly would have been fine if i hadnt been so rough on the car when I drove it. other then that the ac condensor just went a week ago. but I think my mom is going to leave it like that because shes buying a new car soon.

My 97 cavalier with the 2.2L 4spd. auto now has 176,000km on it, had to replace the gas tank because it leaked when I bought the car (had 139,000km), also replaced the front right wheel bearing. needed to replace the rear struts now the front need replaced. I also need to replace the front tie bars, and get the fuel injoctor fixed, it leaks. other then that the basic maintence has been kept up on it. and it still runs pretty well

66,000 on mine recently got 4 new tires and had the ac recharged once again, don't ask me why but it seems to be a yearly thing with my car was shocked to learn our cars could lose as much as 1Lb of freon . i thought that stuff was supposed to be sealed in so it didn't get out oh well but other than that no major probs

Change the A\c compresser niteowl, They are like sprinkling cans. Get a local shop to put refrigerant die in it. Its either going to be the compressor shaft seal or the main body seals. Look for oily deposits on the clutch face for the shaft seal. Dont just change the shaft seal cause it never works.

Joe as far as i know my compressor is fine, when i had it recharged they did a pressure test on it of which the high was 160 and the low was about 35 or so. All fluids were level and they found no leaks they recovered 1.38 of the R 134 refrigerant and charged 1.50. It says my ac blows approximately 47 degrees or so at idle when i asked them about that they said they have known systems to blow colder than that like in the mid to upper 30's 35, 36 etc my question is why isn't mine that cold. Is it normal for mine to be right around 46 47 or should it be about 35 36 etc someone once told me 35 36 etc would probably be slush.

2000 Sunfire 2.2l OHV, 105,000 miles. Just did a bunch of maintenance work today with terrific results. See this post on getting rid of the idle shakes for details. Seems I probably have a leaky valve in cylinder #3, though, so there's a little trouble happening, but it's most likely correctable.

2000 Sunfire...97000miles and the only thing that ive had to replace was the lower radiator hose. when i bought it it ran like i was towing a battleship anchor, i put some fuel line cleaner and fuel injector cleaner in the tank and after that it ran like new...im gunning for 1000000 miles...anyone wanna donate some gas money? lol

Ben did i read that right you have 400,000 miles on your J man why not just hang onto it see if you can't get 7 or 800,000 out of it maybe even try for a million miles would probably be the first J in recorded history to ever have a million original miles on the odometer.

im tryin man im just wondering what the hell kinda deal did gm make with the devil to keep this engine alive????? yea u read it right odometer is that high and its getting there its already run more miles than any honda in the world

Actually ben and i don't know if this holds true for the J's also but i think if that's still your original engine, original engines even if kept in showroom shape are probably good for about 500,000 miles or so. But seriously man that would rock you could take pictures along the way, like when you reach 600,000 or 700,000 plus if you take care of it which it sounds like you do you should have no prob making that.

I'm about to hit 50,000 on my '03 2.2 Eco Cavy today!...only real major maintenance things that i have had to do is change the tires (last year) and change brake pads (last week). Overall, it's been pretty good to me so far.

140,000 mi on a 2002 cavy LS sport 5 speed. Only thing needing replaced is stock suspension. Strut bearings and wheel bearings are starting to chatter. Everythings stock including the clutch.

im new but ive got 175000 on my 97 couple

2002 base 5speed .. 193000kms ( about 120000miles ) .. stock everything .. have only changed oil / wiper blades / 1 burned out headlight .. however, is very shortly going to need some new tires, and probably some front brake pads as well ..
