Its a 95. Just look at where you add and check the oil. I would like to know more about the engine.

It has the pcv hose coming from the front cover aswell as the pcv hose from the rear timing cover. So probably a 95 motor with the timing covers from a 96 plus.

the wierd thing about it darren is it does have that PCV coming off the housing like the 2.4 but it has no oil fill cap like the 2.4 does did 95 have the PCV hose like the 2.4 and the older 2.3 come off the cover

the 95 "pcv" pipe is in the same place as the 1996 and up. The oil fill location was different. Oil cap is located in the front with the intake and the fuel rail. The older 2.3 motors had the "pcv" line running from the side of the timing cover. It is also not called the PCV. It is called the Air/Oil Separator to be technical. Also... The starter is NOT a 1995 starter for the j-bodys. Must be one for an earlier 2.3 or from a grand am or something.

Also notice that the power steering is driven directly off the cam, like a 96 and up, not through a belt off the cam.

Isn't the 95 the worst 2.3 to rebuild? Because of the crank having the extra weights added to it

But if you were gonna rebuild a 2.3 I would choose a ho or atleast a 94 or older lo

Well sure, but they are getting hard to come by, especially in my area. I didn't want to pay freight shipping. I would not mind a true HO motor myself.

You know, aesthetically, I have to say I like it. I like the color matched rear bezel and I even think the "whale tail" looks good on the sedan. As far as motor, DAMN! Do want!
