CV Joint

How hard is it to change out a CV joint on these? My right front is starting to make some noise. Car is a 1997 with the 3 speed if it helps any. Seems like it's pretty straight forwards, just take everything off...haha.

ITS PRETTY EASY, ONCE YOU GET THE WHEEL OFF TAKE THE BOLT OFF THE CENTER OF THE HUB AND YOU WILL NEED TO UNBOLT THE KNUCKLE FROM THE STRUT AND GET A BIG BAR AND PRY OUT THE CV FROM THE CASE AND A WHOLE LOT OF WIGGLE LOL. IT SHOULD COME OUT FAIRLY EASY

Cool. So I don't need to remove the hub bearing from the knuckle?

nope you do not have to. once you get the nut off tap the end with a rubber hammer and wiggle it a lot and you will get it as long as you dont get mad lol

Just got around to finally doing the CV joint yesterday afternoon... Had a wheel bearing going out, so I replaced that first, thinking it might be the noise I was hearing. Anyways... holy crap that was easy. Took longer to drink beer and read the manual than it did to actually replace it. In and out in well under an hour, and that included plenty off time to mess around in the barn and try and find tools.

Now dont forget to get an alignment. Unbolting the knuckle from the strut will cause toe and camber change.

That's coming soon... Probably gonna replace the tie rods before I do that, since they're I dunno how old and cheap to do.
