Thats the way I always understood it but since its not your insurance company paying for it you may have a chance. But its probably going to be hard to get them to pay you more for the man hours put into the car unless its documented and what not.

I am still waiting for the other insurance company to call me. I can't believe it's taking so long WTF!!! nobodies even looked at my car yet.
yeah I'm putting together some info to back up my argument for more money. plus I'm going to keep the car and hopefully fix it enough to drive but I'm not 100% sure it can be fixed but hell what's another 100hrs LOL!

I have a 01 cavalier w/ 2.2L ohv.....why can't I swap everything out (wiring/ gauges....etc) from under hood and under dash and just run a 3400 pcm / harness/ gauges( custom fit of course) and then just splice in my automatic tranny to the pcm(3400).....or just power my 2.2 pcm strictly for my tranny and nothing else(piggyback)....does this sound possible

I have an 03 3400 sfi out of a Montana

I'm no expert but maybe.

I did how ever finally get someone to come out and look at my wrecked car. after everything was said and done I'll net just over $2300.00 which is about $1000.00 more than I had in it not counting my man hours. so all in all I did well and got what I felt was a completely fair price for my car.

oh yeah and I kept the car and will try and fix it this summer for under $350.00 of coarse it will be a bigger more offensive POS after the repairs are done. kind of a rat rod meets sleeper meets POS car that can do 150 MPH +. that is assuming the frame is OK.

re-title this tread as "The Birth Death and Resurrection of a 3400 swap".

I'll probably get a mirror, headlight, turn signal, and fender for now and bend some metal back into position. for the steering I'll buy an outer tie rod and have it aligned.

fender $35 - $45
light $20 - $30
mirror $20 - $30
T-sig $15 - $20
tie rod $35 - $45

$170.00 ish to fix so I can drive it.
I also have another set of tires for that I got for free from my buddy that works at a dealership.

After more than a year, how's the resurrection? Is this beast alive once again?
