o2 sensor interchange boys?

alright guys, both my cars are ready for some new o2 sensors. I've got 2 brand new rear ac delco ones here says 96 or something to 02 by the part number, Now they are the older looking style but i decided to put one in my beater and see (beaters an 02 cav eco swapped) and it seems to work fine no codes being thrown or anything. Id like to replace both front and rear sensors in my blue 05. So i suppose the question is what is the difference between the years? ...any one recommend a brand aside from ac delco?
thanks

I'm on my 3rd Denso on the 04 LSS in a year lucky they've all been under manufactures warentee. Once the new motor and turbo setup go in I'm getting a new Delco.
