Chrome colored Green or Orange
Friday, December 09, 2005 12:19 PM
Majority of my sunfires engine compartment is all chrome and gloss black paint. I love the color of green chrome just as much as orange chrome. But should I go with chroming out my entire engine bay with both colors? Any input would be great .. I need a third opinion..

Cadmium plating? I think that's the "green chrome" you're referring to. Most Japanese cars have that under the hood.

The Black Chrome would look good on that Burnt Orange color....... I think more so then an Orange Chrome look........

On a side note, we have a 2.4 IDI and 2.3 HO intake that was "Supposed" to be powder coated in Black Chrome....... but it turned out more of a Black Cherry, that looks kinda Chrome Green at the right angle....... not sure WTF they did.

If Im not mistaken the way they make black chrome is first to chrome the part, then powdercoat it with a translucent black finish. you could to the same with orange as well. I would check the phone book for powder coat or chrome places and ask them, Im sure they can help you out. Or check out http://eastwood.com/ and go to http://eastwood.com/jump.jsp?itemType=CATEGORY&itemID=458 for their do it yourself powder coating stuff. You have to be sure you get the powder coat that isnt a solid color....translucent or whatever they call it.
