transmission info needed

I have some ideas flowing around and need to get some clarification.

Is the 2200 in the jbody the same as the s10 truck?

Im more interested to know if the blocks are the same as far as transmission mounting.

Thanks for the help and no I'm not giving one word of info on what I'm thinking.

It would work for your RWD cavalier yes.

I'm pretty sure the bellhousing is the same for the V6's (with exception of the new new ones) and the 2.2 OHV's. So yes.

Would it work with the 3.4 or 3.8?

The only possible problem I could think of is the RWD having a starter on the opposite side, which may happen with the 3.4 Camaro's. Sometimes the steering gear gets in the way. That would make the bellhousing a different shape on the trans side as you wouldn't have the hole for the starter on the FWD side.

Are the motors like the ld9 and have the starter ring made into the block or do they use a separate starter plate?
Referring to the mounting of the starter.
