Problems with my ZEX install
Wednesday, June 22, 2005 1:35 PM
So today i finally got everything wired up and i went to go program the box for the throttle position output. I followed the directions perfectly: Turned ignition on without starting it, turned on the switch, go and see that the light on the box is on, press the button, go back inside the car and hold the pedal down for 10 seconds, go back outside and i get the light flashing from red to green to off like it should, telling me it learned the voltage curve, so now i go back inside turn the switch off and then it says to turn it on again and as soon as i do i hear a loud clicking. CLicking sound of on and off i guess you could say. Now i only have the fuel connected(thank god) and the car started to bog. So im like WTF why is the nozzle spraying and im not even on the pedal! Any input would really help guys im sure this explination is really confusing but do your best. I am stumped!

BTW the only thing i can think of is that i tapped into the wrong wire from the throttle position sensor..... I tapped into the blue wire. I have a 99 2200 cav..

you ether have the wiring messed up or

did you buy the kit used? if so off what car? Some cars like the miata have a tps that acts backwards from ours. If you have a kit made for a car like that you would have this problem

Thanks for the info guys. I ended up getting it working. I triple checked my wiring and it was def perfect so i started going back to the basics. This is brand new but i remember reading you can put it on different cars. So i figured if i disconnected the power source for the ZEX box it would forget the voltage curve. Sure enough it did. I was able to have it relearn the curve and now it works. I guess i didnt press the pedal down fast enough or something. Either way it works and im stoked!

hey my kit did the same thing when i installed it too. the problem was that i had the switch on when i put power to the box. so i turned off the box and then turned it back on and it corrected the problem.
