Nitrous Gas Octane Booster

Has anyone ever tried the NOS gas octane booster? It says it raises the octane rating by 6 points. I want to take my car out to the local drag strip this next weekend and was wondering if this would help any at all.

spend the extra two dollars per tank and get 93 octane from the pump

octane booster = junk

higher octane = slower burning = less chance for detonation or uneven flame in the chamber = good

although what you're trying to achieve with octane booster or higher octane gas could be really helped along with an msd ignition setup where you can retard the timing a few degrees

ps, i just read your profile...

if you don't have nitrous in your car......

STAY WITH REGULAR 87 OCTANE FROM THE PUMP

higher octane gas on a naturally aspirated car that is DESIGNED for 87 octane will achieve no performance increase, and if anyone cares to argue.... they're stupid

6 points = .6 octane, so you would go from 93 to 93.6... yeah, thats worth the $10 a can...

Go to your local paint supply store and buy a can Tolulene after you read this website:

And just to clarify, (I haven't read the whole post, so if this point was already brought up, I apologize) raising your octane alone won't make you run better. All it will do is aid in bumping up your BOOST without as much fear of detonation. No boost = no gains after raising octane.

I went to the local track and was running 16.7 on my 2004 cavalier i put in a air intake and fill the tank up with 97 Oc. and ran 16.0 flat not a big difference.

Sport Compact Car magazine did a test on octane boosters a couple months ago. I think the NOS was the best one they tested and it still only raised the octane 1 point.

If you want hight octane just buy higher octane gas. There are a bunch of gas stations by me that sell 100 octane unleaded. If you can't find any gas stations that sell it you can always order it by the barrel from any perfomance shop.
