Whats Your setup?
Thursday, July 07, 2005 2:45 PM
Alright the only reason I posted this is because i am curious to see what everyone else is running and how its working out for them, also just curious to see if someone else is running something different that I haven't thought of. This way it might help share some ideas.

MY SETUP: NX kit 75 shot wet, autolite 103's, 2 WOT switchs wired together, bottle heater, purge, 2 gauges 1 on the bottle 1 up by me, FPR, FP gauge under the hood, AFR gauge

HOW IS IT: So far no problems taken out many many cars and its been a blast

Nitrous Works wet kit, 100 shot. NOS brand bottle heater and guage (on bottle), RPM window switch (3800 rpm on / 6100 rpm off), NGK TR6 copper core plugs. No problems here and run low 13's to the dismay of many Mustang drivers at Cecil County.

ran crappy times with just the bare bonez kit, no accessories. probly due to low n2o pressure

Did you have anything else done to the engine to hold up a 100 shot or is it stock
also did you mess with your air fuel ratio or retard the timing? The reason i ask is i want to do the same on my eco.

Nothing done to the engine, no fuel mods or timing retard, but don't do it on an eco. It will put up quite a protest.

I'd love to put my 98 Z24 on the bottle, but I'm nervous that I might blow something up! It's my only transportation, & I really don't want to run into a whole wack of repairs to the internals. I see a lot of you are running 55-75. Am I safe with that size shot? I'm not a big time racer/speeder, it's more the knowledge I can pour it on when I have to, & if I have to, have the balls to back it up. So what type of setup should I invest in?

I wouldn't really spray on a daily driver unless you have some means of backup transportation.

Why? Is it really that bad for the engine, like I'm not saying I would use it all the time, but sure there are times when I just wanna pass 40 cars in one go when some schmuck is driving 40 km/h under the speed limit holding up a 10 mile line of cars.

I really want to get NOS but I am worried that it might f my car up, will it, or is it safer then I think as long as I get a "smart" wet system?

Stuff can go wrong,

wet kits are the best when compared to dry, but also have to worry about puddling possibly. That being said... nitrous is safe if you dont cheap out and do it right, but stuff happens for multiple reasons, sometimes its a random problem, probably just as random as a bad part.

It does not EXTEND the life of your motor thats for sure, but when setup properly it will cause your engine strain, but if you arent going crazy it should be ok.

If you cant afford to have your car break down if you are gonna spray dont bother, random stuff can happen.

Personally I am going to do it on my daily driver, but my setup will be about as careful as possible:

NX wet (35-50-75) as i get used to it, purge, bottle heater, nitrous pressure gauge on bottle and by me, fuel pressure gauge by me, fuel pressure safety switch, NX dual switch (TPS and RPM window), dual nitrous solenoids in series, afpr, Blow down tube/disc, colder plugs, always premium, eventually remote bottle opener, SAFC-II, and laptop software to monitor my ratios, wideband gauge.

Wont be cheap but figure its the least I can do for my car to be as safe as possible when I do run it, wont be all that often.

NOS Universal 4banger wet kit 50 shot , autolite 103's, wot switch, window switch

My kit is currently disconnected due to my "T" fitting that taps into my fuel line having a small leak at the junction of the T its self. I just havent had the time to get to Street Stuff to get a new T.

I'm bored on a Friday, so here's some pics. Some old, some new.

port fogger .....

connected to this stuff

A wideband to save me from myself. It connects to the controller, thus if it goes lean it shuts off the nitrous. All that has to be done is select a "It's too lean" A/F ratio But you have to have the check box checked in the PC before you load the program.

pressure switch activated warmer.

Just thought I'd throw this pic out there... A new 75mm TB

Nitrous Express, 50 - 75 shot, bottle heater, remote bottle opener, purge, blowdown tube, fuel pressure saftey switch, WOT switch, MSD DIS 2 , MSD RPM window switch, steel braided fuel line, N20 guage, A/F ratio guage,

polyurethane motor mounts, AEM intake, lightweight pulleys (alternator and crank).

I drive a 2000 Z-24

I didnt have any problems for awhile, but then after running the 75 shot for a little, the motor having about 80,000 mi. on it, I threw a rod.

So I just got a new engine in with 3,000 mi. on it, and Im about to try a 50 shot again... I think im gonna stick with a 50 shot for awhile, cause this is my only car.
