plugs
Monday, August 15, 2005 5:36 PM
I just got my zex kit installed a few days ago , have not used it because i need plugs. I have heard that people are using ngk tr6, and autolite #103. BTW it is a wet system and i do know that the plugs need to be 1 heat range colder. Which plug would you recommend before the other. Any help would be appreciated

DO NOT RUN PLATINUM PLUGS WITH NITROUS.

Iridium, copper, resistor.... are all fine.

Autolite 103's are a little shorter than stock. Ive never had a problem, or misfire gapped at .032. And the price is right at like $2 a piece. I have a turbo not nitrous but should be good for you.

i wouldnt do iridium for boost or n2o. you should use copper. iridium still burns hotter than copper. and heavens no, dont use plats.
.38 gap is fine. autolite 103 or ngk tr6 are the correct heat range.

I'm about to drop down to NGK Tr71x's! 2 drops colder than stock, step up from the Tr6's!

Autolite 103's
NGK Tr6's
NGK Tr71x's

all I know of so far!

The Tr71's? Hmm, that's interesting! I had them installed before but passed them off to a guy spraying direct-port on his 2.4! He swapped me out with his stock plats and I gave them those. Karo had already shipped me out two sets of Tr6's when I bought the nitrous off of him so I was ok for nitrous use.

I used them for atleast a week before I swapped the guy for them. Guess that wasn't enough time to tell the tale but for a week they were golden! I used 89-oct shell / NGK Tr71's / on a 75shot. I opted not to use the purge on my set-up to have a gradual increase of nitrous instead of a sudden burst to stay away from any mis-haps. That's weird that you say that though Hypsy, I dont have them anymore to butt heads with ya but to the original post, just stick with the Tr6's and Autolite 103's haha!
