personally i have only run up to a 75 shot with my 4 speed auto ecotec. only "mod" to the tranny is an external hayden fluid cooler to help keep the temps down.

the 4 speed auto is very durable. Rick King ran a progressively controlled 100 shot (125 shot towards the end) on his 4t40e 2.4L with no mods to the tranny. he made 2 or 3 hundred passes down the quarter mile before the engine finally went. never heard him complain about the transmission.

Nitrous amount and transmission type don't really go together...nitrous effects the motor and the amount of power you have will effect the transmission (as far as internals on the auto and heat).

As long as you maintain the motor while spraying, you should be fine.

^^^agreed

The question you really wanna ask is "how much horsepower will the 4-speed auto handle?"

Hopefully, soon I'll show you how much it can hold on a stock tranny

I know that the 4-speed auto can handle much more power than a 5-speed manual, only problem is drivetrain loss.

actually the question you wanna ask is "how much torque can the 4-speed auto handle?"

which i believe the answer to that is around 300 lb/ft

so is a window switch needed for added safety, or will it be just fine without one?

I never used a window switch.. (but I answered in your other thread already )

I was running a dry ZEX kit, 55-85 hp shots. That was with an Autotrans interceptor at 100% line pressure, mickey thompson drag slicks, a Hayden heavy-duty auxiliary transmission cooler, MSD DIS-2, and a few other bolt ons.
