No matter what I did with my nitrous set-up.. I can't be a sleeper if I pop the hood. Sooo.... progress pics of the nitrous install:

This is the manifold I am using to just get the bends right, the other has the throttle body conversion on it so I am using the other... this one will eventually be another project.

It doesn't look the part hear, but it is very sleeper inside. I cut the bottom out of a duffle bag and slipped it over my nitrous bottle. I have a nitrous pressure gauge in the dash as well.

The solenoids sit on a bracket welded to the strut tower. You can see teh nitrous feed that comes from under the car and the fuel feed is T'ed off the main fuel suply. I have a fuel pressure sending unit there as well.

MSD 6al hooked up with a multi-stepper pulling 3 degrees of timing while I spray. I also have a NOS progressive controller.

I'm spraying 75hp and running 12lbs of boost for now.

With a hidden nitrous bottle such as in the speaker box, how do you open and close the bottle? Do you just leave it open at all times?

Looks good, Did you test it yet? Just curious if there is a large delay with the fuel being that the lines are longer then the n20 lines, I would assume it would be fine.

I guess email has been down, because I thought there were only about 10 replies to this post. Then I get here and its like.....WOW!

John H [Cavalierkid wrote:]protomec, that has to be one of the best installs if seen. did u do that or have a shop do it? price?
thats one hell of a sleeper.... u could really hustle people with that.

Yes, I did it myself. I have no idea what a shop might charge.

a q for you eco guys, where are you getting your fuel from? i'm thinking that'll I'll drill and tap my fuel rail, I dont trust the shrader valve for _LARGE_ amounts of fuel and I dont like the idea of cutting fuel lines.

Not that I'm an Eco, but my fuel tap would work on any J engine anyway. I made an inline 'tee' fitting that clips in between the car's fuel line bundle and the rubber engine lines under the master cylinder. I made a block with the same ends that are on the lines on each side and it simply clips into place between the connection. My fuel pressure gauge is also tapped in there.
I doubt there would be any issue with using the Schraeder valve, but my car doesn have one.

RaGiN Z wrote:whats the point of makin it so secret anyway, chances are that while ur racing, u aren't gonna show them ur engine anyway, and if they ask, why would u show them?

Michael Lilly wrote:the reason for hiding it is if you get pulled over by cops lol.

I didn't do mine to hide it from racers or cops, nor any other similar reason. I did it the way I did because:
1- I have never been to insterested in being very "showy" with my car. I tend to think alot of parts placed everywhere tends to look cluttered and unplanned. Not to mention that everything tends to look like its a bunch of different designs... one part looks pure race car, another factory stock, and yet another, ricey. Its just kinda confusing to me.
2- My setup took more skill, persistance, and craftsmanship to do. Its kind of like comparing a car with one-off custom wide-body bodywork to a car with stick-on plastic hood scoops and a 2ft tall bare metal rear wing. Purely function-wise, neither one is much better than the other, but one does show a much larger amount of commitment and skill.

MrMeaner- Please show us pictures of your setup instead of just random pics you found on the internet.

Remote bottle opener.

I figured, I just wasn't sure if there was possibly a cheaper alternative. Also wasn't sure how reliable a remote would be.

fyi, i dont recomend the hanging bottle setup only because you need to attach the brackets to some carbon steel bars on the opposite side of the bottle (ie bottle, bracket, wood, bars) also if you got rear ended the right way, there is still a big chance that the bottle will go flying...

Thanks for the comments--especially since there was no chrome under my hood whatsoever at that point

Too late for the header, though; it said "bye-bye" this summer and I replaced it with a ceramic coated 4-1. And now, that thing's a paperweight b/c I'm going turbo this winter with a stainless steel manifold, probably in black header wrap this time.

The only real reason I wrapped that first one was b/c the paint I coated it with wouldn't stick, and I had a car show coming up. I wrapped that thing WELL while it was installed, and had the busted up fingers to prove it

I did all of the work on my car including internal engine work and head work myself. Pick up some books and read into it. There is plenty of information out there.
BadZ24, I know.. the bottle isn't full so I have to take it out, you can see the bottle heater isn't hooked up there yet either.
